Reports features are only available to Strategic Data users with a Power BI Professional license.
Reports in Client Insights Module (CIM) are the published Power BI Reports. A Power BI Pro license is required to create shareable Power BI dashboards. To view a shared dashboard, one of the following must be true: The Viewer must also have his/her own Power BI Pro license, or the dashboard must be shared via a Power BI Premium workspace, or Power BI Pro is required by both the creator of the dashboard and the consumer.
Before end users can access Power BI Reports, they must be configured by a System Administrator.
To author new reports:
- Download the Power BI reports zip file from the InterAction+ Support site.
- Download and install Power BI Desktop edition. This tool is the standard version used for authoring Power BI reports.
- Follow the instructions in the zip file's readme file.
- Once the reports are loaded and populated in the Power BI desktop, publish them using the Publish button.
- Log into PowerBI with an email account with a Power BI Pro license.
- Select the report you published.
- Click Edit > File > Embed. Acquire the Embedded link.
-
In CIM, go to Settings > Firm Preferences > Access to reports. Paste the link in the Access to reports field so they are accessible to end-users. Please note only users with Administrative rights of the CIM can edit the report settings.
You may want to schedule refresh on your published Power BI dataset. Please refer to the Microsoft documentation on configuring scheduled refresh. We recommend installing on-premise data gateway in a different server where the SQL server hosting the InterAction+ database is installed.
When updating or authoring reports in Power BI Desktop, save the file with the same name so you don’t have to update the link in Client Insights.
To access reports:
- In Client Insights, click the Reports tab.
- If necessary:
- Click Sign-In in the main window. The Power BI sign-in screen is displayed in a tab in your web browser.
- Sign into Power BI. This enables reports once Reports is clicked in the sidebar.
