After you create a Task, you can edit it. For example, you can add notes to a Task to monitor the Task completion. As a best practice, mark Tasks as Complete rather than deleting completed Tasks. When the work on the Task is complete, you can mark a Task as complete, and then reopen a closed Task to continue to work on it if needed.
You can also complete bulk actions on Tasks to work more efficiently. For example, you can delete more than one task at a time or mark more than one task as complete at the same time. Strategic Data users can delete Tasks that were created by you and others. Essential Data + users can only delete Tasks that you created.
To Edit a Task:
- Click on the Tasks tab.
Do one of the following:
- Click on the Task you want to edit. A View Task window will open.
- Click on

OR
- In the grid, select the row for the Task you want to edit and click the inline edit icon
to the right.
- Edit the Task as needed.
- Subject: Edit the task title.
- Assign to User: By default, the Task is assigned to you, but you can assign it to anyone in your firm, by clicking on the Assign to user field, entering the person's last name, and then selecting the name from the list.
- Task Type: The list is based on activity types created for your organization. Select the Task Type from the list.
- Due date: Either enter the Due date for the Task or select the Due date from the Calendar.
- Optional: If you want to lock the Task from editing, click the Lock Editing toggle.
- Optional: To link a Task to a Contact, an Initiative, or an Opportunity, select the appropriate options from the Contacts, Opportunity, and/or Initiative list. You are limited to linking the Task to one Opportunity and one Initiative. Strategic Data users can link Contacts, Opportunities, and Initiatives. Essentials + users can link to Contacts only.
- Optional: You can associate a Task with groups. Select an Industry and/or Practice Group. You are limited to one value for each of Industry and Practice Group. Values for Industry are suggested based on the industry associated with the company above. Values for Practice Group are suggested based on the assigned user.
- Optional: Add Notes for the Task.
- Save your changes. The new Task will display on the Grid and on the Initiative or Opportunity home page if it is linked to an Initiative or Opportunity.
To Mark a Task as Complete:
- Click on the Tasks tab.
- Do one of the following:
- Click on the Task you want to mark as complete. A View Task window will open.
- Click on
.
Select Mark as Complete and then click Save & Close. The Completed date will be updated on the Grid.
OR
In the grid, highlight the Task you want to mark as complete and select
.
OR
- To mark more than one Task as Complete at the same time in the grid, mark the check boxes in front of the Tasks you want to mark as complete.
- Click on
and then Mark as Complete from the menu.
As a best practice, mark Tasks as Complete rather than deleting completed Tasks.
To reopen a Task marked as Complete:
- Click on the Tasks tab.
- Mark the check box(s) in front of the Task(s) you want to reopen.
- In the grid, click on
to the far right.
To Delete a Task:
- Click on the Tasks tab.
- Do one of the following:
To delete an individual Task, select row for the Task you want to delete and click the Delete icon

OR
- To delete more than one Task at the same time:
- On the grid, mark the check boxes in front of the Tasks you want to delete.
- Click on
and then Delete Task.
- You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. Select Yes.
